Overcoming Challenges With F600X1
MK Tech installed its first Brother machine tool in 2003. Since then, they have continued their relationship with Brother. President Koyama, who took over the company from his predecessor in 2010, had this to say about the lead-up to installing the Brother machine tool.
"At that time, all of our work was done with an operator mainly using general-purpose machines such as milling machines and drill presses. We had to rely heavily on experienced workers. Of course, I was also young and found that this work difficult to replicate. I wanted to change that dependency on skilled workers."
The company started the changeover at its tapping center, shifting the tasks previously done by milling machine and drill press to machining with the Brother machining center. Then, in 2019, the company installed the F600X1 for high-rigidity machining. At that time, they had already installed a BT40 machining center, as they were about to begin machining iron. However, according to President Koyama, while the BT40 cuts well, the speed is slow. To overcome that challenge, they introduced the F600X1.
At first, President Koyama was skeptical of its performance, but after verifying it at an exhibition, he decided to install the product. In addition, since they already had the BT40, they understood its advantages. "We were first impressed with the speed of the F600X1. It is about 50% faster than the BT40 when machining the same content. It also offers more precise contours."
In addition, it reduces initial costs at installation as well as tooling costs. "The advantages in space are also significant. We are able to operate two SPEEDIO units in the same space as a single BT40."
