Space saving
While ensuring large jig area,
the space-saving design makes
factory
machinery layout easier and maximizes
the effective use of installation space.

*2 Compared to BT40 horizontal MC with equivalent travels
Energy saving
Achieves exceptional low power
consumption
through diverse functions enabled by accumulated technology.
*Compared using a sample program created by Brother
Air saving
By optimizing air-related functions such as air purge and spindle air blow, and reducing wasted air consumption, it achieves both energy savings and high reliability.
*Compared using a sample program created by Brother
Energy savings mode
Added a function to turn on/off energy-saving functions simultaneously.
Items to be turned on/off can be customized.

Enables process integration
Process division
For 3-axis and 4-axis machining
Process division is required,
resulting in mounting error.
- Cycle time is short,
but balancing the machining time is necessary. - The impact of process changes is significant,
requiring time-consuming process design. - Technical expertise in jig design is required
to ensure machining accuracy.
Process integration
Process integration with 5-axis
machining ensures
highly-efficient machining.
- Cycle time is longer, but
machining time balance adjustment is easy. - Shorter process design time.
- Equipment can be increased in minimal units
based on production fluctuations. - Reduce workpiece mounting frequency and
ensure multi-face machining accuracy easily.
High-speed,
high-accuracy
simultaneous
5-axis machining
High-speed, high-accuracy simultaneous
5-axis machining is realized with an algorithm
that enables maximum acceleration and deceleration at all times.
Tool center point control
Machining is performed by changing the tool direction relative to the workpiece.
Optimal acceleration/deceleration are performed by
look-ahead up to 1,000 blocks.
Processing speed of
minute line segments
CPU performance has been greatly enhanced, and processing speed is now four times faster, enabling
high-speed processing of CAM data with small
tolerance.

flexible jig design
Vertical machining center +
tilting rotary table
- Jig design is restricted by areas of interference.
- The support is different for
the machine body and rotary table.
HU550Xd1
- Fewer interfering areas
means fewer jig constraints. - The integrated rotary table enables
centralized support.
High-accuracy tilting rotary table designed for large jigs
Brother’s original large tilting rotary table with a roller gear cam mechanism and tandem control,
achieving both high speed and high accuracy.
Roller gear cam mechanism
A roller gear cam mechanism is used for A and B axes, achieving both high speed and high accuracy.
Flexibly adaptable
to complex jig configurations.
| Allowable inertia | Standard | High inertia mode |
| Around A-axis | 6.0kg・㎡ | - |
| Around B-axis | 4.1kg・㎡ | 8.8kg・㎡*1 |
*1 Parameter adjustment is required.
Tandem control
Tandem control using two motors is used for the A-axis. This suppresses distortion in the large tilting rotary table, enabling high-speed indexing.
Synchronous control of two motors
contributes to high productivity.
| Axis | Indexing time [90°] | Max. indexing feed rate |
| A-axis | 1.2sec | 50min-1 |
| B-axis | 1.2sec | 75(60*2)min-1 |
*2 In high inertia mode

with diverse functions
High chip evacuation
Optimal machine design ensures efficient evacuation
of chips during machining,
maintaining stable production.
-
Center
trough structureThe inclined base and the center trough structure effectively evacuate chips that fall on the base to the outside of the machine.
-
Head shower
(option*2)A head shower is available to remove chips from the spindle head.
-
Magazine cover
ATC shutterThe magazine is separated from the machining chamber by a shutter to minimize the effect of chips on tools.
*1 Value based on our in-house tests.
*2 Included with the coolant nozzle (optional).
Stuck chip detection function
Equipped with a stuck chip detection function, widely used in our vertical machining centers. Machining defects are prevented by detecting the stuck chips that caught between the spindle and the holder during ATC. Troublesome short-period stoppages can also be reduced by automatically cleaning and retrying.
Vibration adjustment
Vibration adjustment analyzes waveform data using a PC app
to suggest the recommended spindle speed.
